Established in 1992, Summerbridge aims to improve the educational and life trajectories of underprivileged students in Hong Kong by providing tuition-free quality English language education and life skills development opportunities. For its student teachers, it fosters cross-cultural exchange and a sense of civic duty.
Summerbridge provides year-round programs with a unique students-teaching-students model. Its centerpiece is the Summer Program, in which older students from around the world, aged 16 to 22, teach and mentor the local students, aged 13 to 15.
Programs include a fully English immersion environment, small class sizes, individual mentoring, and hands-on learning strategies. Summerbridge develops students’ self-confidence and motivation
